# nuwacom

> nuwacom is a sovereign, model-agnostic AI operating system for teams. It connects people, agents, and AI apps through a shared organizational knowledge layer called the Context Engine - built in Europe, compliant by design.

nuwacom is developed by nuwacom GmbH, a company founded by Christophe Folschette (co-founder of Talkwalker, acquired by Hootsuite in 2024), Sascha Böhr (founder of 247GRAD and dirico), and Alexander Kleinen (former Director of Engineering at Staffbase, CTO at dirico). The platform was originally built together with Lufthansa to solve the challenge of company-wide AI knowledge access.

The core value proposition: AI models are becoming interchangeable. The real competitive advantage comes from organizational knowledge. nuwacom is the system that protects that knowledge and makes it productive - sovereign, from Europe, for organizations that want to deploy AI securely and at scale.

## Platform

The nuwacom platform consists of five interconnected layers:

- **Context Engine** - The foundational knowledge layer. Connects documents, files, data sources, and external systems into a central, searchable knowledge base. Works at user, team, project, agent, and organizational level. Knowledge from meetings, decisions, and work is preserved and reused. All information is access-controlled per role and tenant.
- **AI Chat** - Instant answers grounded in organizational context. Model-agnostic: users choose from OpenAI, Anthropic (Claude), Google (Gemini), Mistral, and open-weight models. Collaborative workspaces for teams.
- **AI Apps** - Pre-configured applications for daily work: Meeting Notetaker, Docs, Slides, Images. The Meeting Notetaker generates transcripts and summaries, captures decisions and tasks, and feeds everything back into the Context Engine so every meeting prepares the next.
- **Agents** - Autonomous AI agents that execute multi-step tasks grounded in organizational knowledge. Built without code via natural language instructions in a visual builder. Governed centrally with role-based permissions, approval limits, and audit logging.
- **Workflows** - Automated processes connecting agents, skills, and external systems. Designed in a no-code visual editor. Triggered by event, schedule, or manually. Supports human oversight at defined checkpoints.

## Key Concepts

**Context Engine** - nuwacom's self-learning organizational memory. Aggregates knowledge from all connected sources and makes it available consistently across chat, agents, workflows, and AI apps. Answers are delivered with source references, not just keyword hits.

**Skills** - Reusable AI capabilities that can be assigned to agents and workflows to extend what they can do.

**Model Hub** - Supports multiple AI providers simultaneously. Organizations can control which model is used per use case or per department.

**AI Governance** - Centralized control over roles, permissions (RBAC), model selection, feature availability, and audit logging. Built into the operating system, not added as an afterthought.

**Connectors** - 40+ integrations including Slack, Microsoft Teams, Outlook, SharePoint, Google Drive, Notion, Jira, Confluence, Salesforce, and more.

## Security & Compliance

Security is architecturally embedded, not bolted on.

- **Data sovereignty**: All data processed and stored exclusively within the EU. Customer data is never used to train AI models.
- **Certifications**: ISO 27001, GDPR-compliant, BSI C5-aligned.
- **Encryption**: AES-256 at rest, TLS 1.3 in transit.
- **Identity**: Integrates with Active Directory, Okta, Entra ID. SSO and MFA supported. Least-privilege principle enforced at system level.
- **Tenant isolation**: Strict tenant separation with isolated data and resources per customer.
- **Audit logs**: Complete logging of all interactions including timestamps, user attribution, and context. Exportable for compliance reporting.
- **Security testing**: Regular penetration testing by independent third parties against OWASP Top 10 and OWASP LLM Top 10.
